What is the renewal of metallic cylindrical parts in general?

process of metal-mechanic part renewal:
The renewal / rebuilding process basically consists in the following steps:
In the event of outer diameter (OD) worn-out parts:
- Grind the outworn surface
- Apply a hard chrome coat
- Grind the hard chrome coat until the original diameter has been reached
In the event of the renewal of components like diesel injection plungers & barrels or
hydraulic valves, it is also necessary to remove the wear of the inside diameter (ID) of the barrel or valve
body as the case may be. This is done honing as showed in the diagram above.
